I'm sure I'm not the only person, but I find myself getting very emotional watching certain films and when I say certain films, I mean most films!!
I even find if I watch the film more than once, I still get taken in by it and find myself weeping come the end, or at least welling up!
Is it because I have too much emotion running through my body or could it be due to me just being daft, lol!!
I look forward to hearing if you are the same or just think I'm too soft, or maybe you could give me a film title and I could let you know if I've seen it and whether I got emotional or not, then maybe you could judge me!!

Dont worry dear you are not the only one who cries and I can vouch for another 2 persons in my family. One my mother and the other is my sister and as you said even if I am watching the movie for the 100th time I would still cry. My hubby keeps his kerchief ready as soon as there is a emotional scene be it at home or in the theatre and says I am a cry baby. [avani26]
Same here dera my hubby watches me more than he watches the movie and if our friends are around he will make it a point to point towards me in particular scene. I want to avoid seeing emotional movies but those are the ones that I love. [avani26]
As much as I hate to admit it LOL..yes there are certain movies that make me get all teary-eyed...and it doesnt matter how many times I watch them either...movies like Pay It Forward, Powder and most recently Seven Pounds..just to name a couple.. [Ravenladyj]
Lol, my most recent tearful film was "The Wedding Singer". It was quite amusing really, it was at the end where he's singer to the girl on the plane "grow old with you ", I was in pieces and my partner came home, he thought there was something wrong, came up to me and said "what's up, what's happened, are you ok?" I couldn't help but laugh and point to the T.V. he then realised what was going on and called me daft, lol [kellywhit25]
I get emotional at certain scenes of a good movie. In fact I am looking forward to weep as it means I am watching a good movie which is very very rare nowadays. The Notebook,Dyeing young,Love story and Lorenzo's oil are some of the movies that come into my mind which managed to bring tears in my eyes. [balasri]
i think it's natur naturally because every human being has emotions,i was sometimes too carried away when he saw a sad movie and if cried when i saw the movie [Raniaa]
I'm pretty emotional when watching films. the last time I cried so hard was when I saw Marley and Me on cable tv. I was crying so hard, because I have two dogs, and one of them is old already, and I know he'll be going away soon. I cried so hard that the next day, my eyes were all puffy and red. cry I am a cry baby when I'm watching something, not only in movies, I also cry when I watch extreme makeover home edition. Hahahahaha. I think the funniest memory, was when I cried when I saw Sex and the City. Hahaha. I was crying for Carrie when Big didn't show up for the wedding. cry [Ingkingderders]
That was a nice video. It is trully an eye opener, and it just shows that you have to be really careful while driving, not only for your own safety, but also for the others who are in the same road as you. [Ingkingderders]
As a guy I usually don't walk around talking about these types of films, but I will admit that a few in particular get to me every time. There aren't too many films that generate a flood of emotions, but the work of Wes Anderson does it to me twice. Once at the end of The Royal Tenenbaums, and once again at the end of The Life Aquatic. A friend of mine has said (correctly) that seldom does art make you laugh at one moment and then cry the next. The Life Aquatic submarine scene does that (apparently for both of us). Also, Punch-Drunk Love, by Paul Thomas Anderson. A slow, thoughtful movie, and a personal favorite of mine. I'm noticing a common thread in these films, they aren't your typical love stories, and the two Wes Anderson moments are not even male/female! So I guess that's part of it for me, that the movie tends to be a guys movie about guys. But i don't cry often because those movies are seldom emotional. [cburns401]
I can relate being a guy, but I'll admit that 3 films will get to me all the time. One is The Color Purple and the other 2 are Great Expectations (1946) and Wuthering Heights (1939)with Laurence Olivier. Basically its certain parts in the films that makes me teary eyed. [glambank]
Oh no, it isn't just you! Whenever there is something sad or just moving or touching, I'll cry or at least well up. I once saw my son tear up as a teenager watching "Edward Scissorhands" and you know boys hate doing that! I wonder more about people who can't be moved during a film than those of us who can. It's as though they're missing some sensitivity or something. [CuriousGeorgie8]
You're not alone hun, there are certain movies that have me crying like a baby every time. It doesn't matter how many times I see the movies, the end result is soggy hankies. [recycledgoth]
I do! If the movie is sad enough, I will cry my eyes out. And I don't like to watch these kinds of really sad movies with my husband, because he doesn't show any emotion at all, and I feel embarrassed. [DeenaD]
I do get tearful and even cry at some films, I watched 'Dear John' recently and was brought to tears, there are some movies that make me get tearful every time I watch them one being 'City of angles' that one gets to me. I am a really sensitive soft hearted person. Some commercials even make me cry, or at least close to it. I for one don't think anything is wrong with it. [Rwrathall]
Some movies get me tearful and the movie that really made me cry was p.s. i love you. I felt so bad when I was watching that movie. There are a lot of movies in my country that has something to do with crying and all those emotions but they dont make me cry at all. I think its because they are all the same stories and I'm tired of them but foreign movies make me cry because they are unique in every way and so original. They dont usually show people crying and crying but you can feel it in the movie that people were really sad. cry [p3ks626]
I think I am emotional and it is easy for me to be tearful or even cry when I watch the touching movies. Sometimes I will drop tears to some specific moving scenes. I will cry for many movies, such as City of Angels, Brave Heart and so on. I love China [youless]
Watch the new Disney animation movie "UP". We bought it for our daughter, but my wife cries everytime we watch it. I only cry during weird times in comedies, shows like the Notebook or any of the movies that are trying to tell a sad story don't phase me much. But at the end of the Adam Sandler movie Click, when he gets his family back, that gets to me every single time I watch it,like I don't know its going to happen or something, lol. [Niltusk]
well i'm a man and I don't feel sentimental in most movies but I am not going to lie there have only been 2 movies that made me cry the first one only made me cry one time and that was the first time that i saw titanic and no it was not when leonardo died. It was the part where they were looking for survivors and the dude put the flashlight on a dead woman and dead baby. then I lost it because I thought man this stuff actually happened little kids and babies died. the second movie which can make me cry almost every time i watch it if i watch it from beginning to end is the movie called in the pursuit of happyness with will smith and his son in it. If you don't feel any sentiment at the end then you have no heart because as a man I can understand to what lengths and how far I would go to make sure I provide for my kid and family no matter what hardships I would have to endure as long as they were taken care of and happy. and not have to go through what I had to go through as a child. [kingblack147]
Im' sorry to hear about what you went through as a child, i really do understand your concerns of providing and looking after your family. Have you seen green mile, as that is one of many films that gets me going, actually i can barely breath through crying so much, terrible lol [kellywhit25]
yes i agree with you that we are tearful when we watch more difficuklt and consuming time because this time make fearful condition for us. [deepmala10]
You are just too attached to the movie that's why you feel that way. But you are not alone with this one since I am like that also. I tend to be emotional if I watch a certain movie. In fact, I just saw a great love story two days ago and I was crying by it's story. It was one of my favorite. It was a Korean movie entitled "A Moment to Remember". It was definitely a great movie to watch if you want something with a great love story and if you want to cry a lot. But if you are depress, don't watch this movie since it would just make you even more depress.lol [joannaleed]
The films I cried to? Hmmm let's see: P.S. I Love You Passion of the Christ and A Walk to Remember I get all teary eyed especially if the movie's story is something I can relate to. Also, if it's a really tragic love story. *sniff* [ellimac]
Any film that is emotional then it is a given that I am going to get all teary-eyed. I cry at books, movies and even a soap opera at times. It takes nothing to get me all emotional. You are not alone for sure. [sid556]
of course! Its normal for us to feel saddened whenever there's some emotional scenes on a certain film.I too get carried away sometimes especially if the scenes involves family and shows certain values I can relate to. But I don't see too much often of some sad films, I'd rather watch comedy or action films these days. [sether7]
yes, i shed buckets of tears...thats why i prefer to watch alone..if the person on screen whether old, young, kid,women,..whoever cries,i cry with them. it might be because iam too sensitive or emotional and i get touched by anybody's pain. [ksmita]
hello, kellywhit.I think I am an emotional person too.I often have lots of tears when watching certain moves.just so moved and can't stop crying.too much emotion just like drained from my body. [fairytale123]
yeah, you are not the only one - in fact, i believe most people do. it's just that some people can hold back their tears more than others. but i'm of the latter type! i've shed tears many times watching movies - i just can't hold back! but i try hard to not let others notice me. there are many movies - saving private ryan(my all time favorite movie), the pursuit of happyness, gladiator, a beautiful mind, a walk to remember, the green mile, the patriot, forrest gump, empire of the sun, schindler's list, etc, etc. there are still more but i'm just mentioning the ones that came to my mind now. [junil_jk]
AS far as I am concerned, I think I will sometimes get tearful when I just have watched the certain films. For example, when I watch the film which is so moving and I can not help myself tearing in my eyes. After I have watched it, I usually can not forget the moment that I was tearing in my eyes. [monkeylong]
I was just crying the other day while watching One Tree Hill. Hailee's mother was dying and they put together a slideshow and it got me. I tried to hurry up and dry my eyes before my husband walked in the door b/c he always makes fun of me. [mflower2053]
Well yes, I gotta admit to having a tear or two wathing some films, but being a guy, I try not to show it! It is good to be able to release emotions, and there is nothing wrong with crying at a film - my wife does it all the time! I do it, but nobody gets to know about it.. It's a sign that we have a soul - that we have feelingS! lol_Derek [derek_a]
Depending on the scene. If it is a reunion scene, or any scene which are touchy, I'll get teary. [deenaly]
Well, I'm of the same kind. I burst into tears when watching films presenting suffering and tragedies that's why I generally avoid them. It also depends on the mood you are in. When your life is miserable, it's normal to burst into tears when seeing a film that resembles your life. That's why I use to watch documentary films about rescuing animals. These help me rise my spirit especially when I see cubs of animals, they are such a comfort! But I do not use to see comedies, I think most of them are silly! [LadyDD]
Yeah! when i was child i had seen a film which brought my tears from eyes the film is patriotic one...and having a very hearty story..today also when i see that movie i get very much touchy... [siliguri]
Hi Kellywhit, I am very honest with my emotions when watching movies. when i watched comedy films i laugh and laugh to the point of crying. when it's drama yes...i cried. i am usually carried out with scenes in the movies. it feels good being true to my emotions. [msfrancisco9369]
Yes, there are movies which make me cry whenever I watch. It may that I was watching that movie 5th time, even than I cry. When we like a movie scene, we get into the character or the scene and start comparing our situation. I hide from others that I am crying while watching the movie. That is not with many people so I think that they will think I am very emotional and can not control my emotions. [AjaySinghBaghel]
Yes, watching some films do make me sad. But it has been a long, long time when I really shed tears and had to reach out for a tissue paper. This was the movie called," The Jilted". It was a Taiwanese production revolving around a drunken father, an abandon mother and a young kid trying to fend for himself in a harsh world outside. I think the year was 1970. It made me cry as it was such a tragic movie. The theme song was also so melancholic to drive home the message of sympathy. Before that, it was a movie called, " A Night in Hong-Kong" staring the vivacious Yu Ming. Sad but not as powerful as "The Jilted". [jonjee0203]
I cry at everything any more.... I am only 40 but I believe the change has crept up on me because I am really feeling and seeing the signs..... I cry at anything Oprah, Armagadeon, Ladder 49, Fireproof you name it anything that has sadness in it .... I guess I just feel for people and movies..... [hagirl]
i think i'm the kind of being too soft. i also will get tearful when watching any film. cause i always can find the emotional party in each film. well, yesterday, i re-watched the TITANIC again, and got tearful so much again. but one of my male friends think i'm too soft. they wont get tearful casue they know the films mostly are not true, only novels... [yolanda19191]
Hi,kelly,,,You are not alone..I cry every time I see a sad movie. It does not matter how many times I see the same sad movie I will always cry..I cry when I read a sad book,,hear a sad song and many other things.. I can not think of film titles at the moment,One song is "Amazing Grace",,at a Military funeral "Taps",,anything that is sad,,even ads on tv.. No,you are not daft, just a kind and caring person..Blessings to you. [mcelhenney]
I get teary when I watch Longtime Companion. It's a movie about a group of friends and how they die over the course of the crisis. It's a horrible endeavor and always makes me cry within four minutes of starting. [cripfemme]
There are scenes in some movies which touch you so much that you do feel tearful. It is only natural to feel so as we are humans. [sheetalnr]
I do not think there is anything wrong with getting tearful when watching certain films. I do think the director of the film is really successful or the film is a success if it can achieve the goal of touching your heart. I do feel emotional when watching certain films - it is as if I am the lead actor. [whyaskq]
Hello happy I do the same thing all the time, and yes I watch it over/over and get the same feeling, I use think something was wrong with me but now I realize there is nothing wrong with me/us we are good people and we find it easy to put ourself in other peoples shoes even if they are just acting, when I watch Little House forget about it, my family always know when to look at me lol I just watched "I could do bad by myself" by Tyler Perry and that movie is really good, did you see that one, girl its a good one one of the best he has done that I have seen. No worries don't change its a good thing, some people don't know how to cry, or too ashamed consider yourself blessed I do. Thanks great discussion. [kitty42]
it is natural to get affected by a film, these are true stories. I am a male species and i do get teary eyed when i watch some dramas. I can't help it ,too. though , i am not that emotional but the thought of it makes me do cry. If i see something beatiful then that is where it hits me. [tigerdragon]
surging of emotional response to touching situations in life ,may be a movie or a story is natural and is the human part of our being ! It is devine to get synchronised and attuned to the situations and the deeper emotional energies take hold of us as our inner being is stirred and we start relating ourselves subconsciously and the result is as you say "welling up" or emotional outburst But it is not so in the animal world This is unique to the humans the stirring of the energy and rise of feeling is alright but weeping is a pathological state where ones control is lost over ones self and we get into a habit of repeating the weeping phenomena and think that it is emotional response to that situation Actually it signifies our habitual weakness and lack of self control and self decipline I have seen people to we when they depart It is said of Tolestoy's wife the whenever she went to a theater in Russian Winters with temperatures freezingly below zero out side the theater ,she used to have to coach mans for her coach .One she would take with her inside and other would be left behind her in the freezing temperature with orders not to move And she would also carry a bagful of handkerchieves to soak he tears which she use to run in torrents on seeing a touchingly tragic enacted scene in the theater And on completion of the theatrical drama when she used to come out invariably the coachman left out side would have dies and the next coachman used to take its place to drive her home She was not at all sensitive to the freezing and death of the coachmen though she was easily moved to tears on seeing a a tragic scene So what you would call such a situation? This the most insensitive sensitiveness Therefore lets not be beguiled by the fact that welling up is some emotional trait but on the other hand it is a pathological state it shows lack of dicipline and self control Let the emotion be there but its expression would lead us in a mental jiff aka insensitivenes it is not softness but weakness [vpsmalhotra]
actually i also got carried away with the story specially if i can relate to it, like i can remember those days that it happened to me also and so i cant help myself but cry coz i know the feelings. or even if i cant relate to the story but the main character suffer the pain i also cry coz i also know how it is to have that kind of feelings. or perhaps, im just a girl who have a soft heart that can easily be melted away. [homeshoppers]
yes, I cry while watching an emotional scene in a movie or a TV show. Last time I cried watching movie 3 Idiots which had many scene where I lost my control on emotions. Scenes were very practical to relate with our life and that is what makes me cry. [AjaySinghBaghel]
Hey kelly, There are movies watching which excite emotion. Such a movie is Roots (1977) by Alex Haley. I watched this movie on TV when I was 8. Though I wasn't mature enough, it moved me a lot with a feeling of sorrow and sympathy. Another movie was Romeo and Juliet (1968). Another is 'Hamlet' (1969). And such are: Love Story (1970), King Lear (1971), Spartacus (1960) and so on. I hope you'll like them. Have a nice day.happy [faridmadeabillion]
