Do You Own A Digital Camera Or Regular Film Type Camera

Of course when digital cameras first came out I had to jump on it and get one. I think I'm on my third one since they first came out. I think they are the best thing that has been invented since anything digital came out. At this point I can't imagine waiting for film to be developed even when it only takes an hour or two at a lot of places and you can get the film put on a cd and all of that. Being able to take a bunch of pictures and immediately see them on my pc is amazing to me! When my daughter moved I found a box full of disposable cameras with only some of the film used and most of them were very old. It's going to cost her a lot of money getting them all developed. Which do you own/prefer....digital camera or film camera?

I own both of them. The film camera was the gift. So i have just kept it new. And I have digital camera which I bought it with my own money. Right now I own Sony Dsc-n2. This is really really a nice camera. I'm really satisfied with it. We can directly watch this on the tv as well. It feels great. And ya I do agree with you. Digital camera are the best invention. [diillu]
Wow...I'm going to have to check into that Dsc-n2! That must be awesome watching on your tv. [ctrymuziklvr]

Hello. Most of the time I am using my digital camera its a Nikon D70 but I hawe a Nikon AF401 to and I can use the lenzes to both of them, but I think the digital is the best one then I can take a lot of photos and try difrent settings to get some good shots. [matte5]
Yes they do and if you hawe a 35-155 on the old nikon and pot it on the digital you get a 70-310 instead but it works exact and great. [matte5]

I prefer a digital camera as I can crop the photos and fix them immediatelly. I only use a digital camera now. I have no patience or money to use the film type camera. [naty1941]
Cropping and generally "fixing" the digital photos is something I also appreciate with the digital camera. Patience and money are also a big draw for me. [ctrymuziklvr]

Hello Ctrymuziklvr, We own both. Hubby & I each have a digi-cam. We have a compact 35mm, and a professional 35mm. Of course, neither of us has used either of the 35mm cameras in years! There's simply no need. We can get better shots, more quickly, less expensively, and more conveniently with the digicams. Plus, I never was good at the F-stop, speed thing. I'm totally on board with your 'best digi invention' perspective as well. I continue to be amazed at the quality of images that digicams can take. For example: My avatar of the moon was taken with my little digicam. I have tried, in years past, to get a descent pic of the moon -- to no avail. The cost of the equipment necessary to get a descent lunar shot is ridiculously cost prohibitive. Yet, my little iddy-biddy digital camera captured the moon as well as any professional shot I've ever seen. Yup, huge cudos to the digicam world!!! [ladyluna]
Your image of the moon is spectacular! I wouldn't have thought you got it with your own digicam I thought it was just from an image site. Some of those iddy-biddy cameras are awesome. I could never get the F-stop either so don't feel bad. [ctrymuziklvr]

I'm totally in the dark when it comes to cameras, ctry. In fact, I have not owned one for several years. I used to buy them all the time and would just end up giving them to the grandkids, so I finally quit buying them. My daughter sends me photo shows all the time, and I really enjoy them. I have considered getting another camera, but I would like to think about it some more. [worldwise1]
Personally, I would be lost without a camera and I enjoy taking pictures of everything! My family knows that whenever we have a get together or go to any type of "time" that I will be taking pictures and sharing them with everyone. [ctrymuziklvr]

we have 3 digicams, each one is better than the predessor. i would like to buy a really good one that can zoom in better than the ones that we own. as for printing, both are kind of a pain and cost money. the only thing that i like about digi cams is that it is much easier to share photos on the net with friends and family. [cher913]
My goal is to one day own a video camera. My little digital has the capability but I don't know how to use it. [ctrymuziklvr]

well i own both .. i enjopy using them both and i dread using htem both at the same time. I love my regualr film camera when i do scrapbooking. it is easier and cheaper to run to the store and get a one hour develop. then it is to do digital prints. I disklike the film camera because you cannot se wehter or not you got the photo the wa you want it or if yu open the back the film is ruined and sometimes you just pay for a bunch of spotted pictures. But i love my digital camrea because i dont have to worry ever about running outta film or taking awrong picture i can just delete the ones that came out incorrectly. Its just so much easier and you can download the pictures just about anywhere! what i dont like about digital cameras is the fact that im conastlny paying for battiries! they die so quickly! and sometimes the memory card goofs up (on occasion) when i take it out to put it in my computer lsot and then all my pictures are gone becaue i have to constanly format my disc.. LOL they both have there good and theren abd points to them i guess. [beutfulmama6701]
You named all great reasons for the digital. I especially appreciate not having to pay for pictures that came out bad. [ctrymuziklvr]

I own both My 35 mm camera hasnt been used in a very long time. I too have film that has never been devolped and maybe someday I will get around to doing that LOL I prefer my digital camera I am so spoiled now hehe I like being able to see how the pic turned out right away so I know if I need to try to get another shot or change the angle or the lighting [zukepr]
I'm willing to bet almost everyone who uses a digital camera has a good 35 mm hidden away some place in their homes! [ctrymuziklvr]

Well this is horrifying, but right now all I have is my old Polaroid camera! I will get a digital one someday, I am way behind the times but I've had so many other priorities. It'll be so great to get my first digital camera and share my photos with all my online friends. I hope I don't end up breaking it! lol [cremechese51]
I used to love the Polaroids because the pictures were developed on the spot. They were very expensive to use though. I'm sure when you get a digital you won't break it. [ctrymuziklvr]

I have a digital camera. It's about 7 years old. I've kind of always hated it but I never feel like buying a new one. I'm usually pretty behind the times on electronics. I like digital better than regular, cause it's cheaper in the long run. But I'd like to have a regular camera again! [raychill]
At least your camera was free! I would love it simply because it's free. I paid $400 something for mine. So I "have" to like it! [raychill]

my husband and i both own digis..i have a canon and he has a vivatar i would rather use a digi cause then i can see the pictures i took right away and delete the blurry fuzzy ones..also i can just upload them to my computer right away and share them with friends and family rather then paying to have them developed throwing all the bad pics away and then payen to have them on a cd or scan them on my computer!no digi is so so much easier:) [chigawaga]
I like being able to see the picture BEFORE you take it in the view finder. That's a great help to me since I'm not a professional photographer. [ctrymuziklvr]

I have a digital camera, like you I had to go and grab one....They are brilliant I just didnt realise how brilliant...I love the fact that you can put them on your computer or delete the ones you dont want.. [Calais]
Downloading the pictures to my pc is the best part of having a digital camera for me. [ctrymuziklvr]

I didn't get a digital camera until long after they came out. I didn't really want one either until I borrowed my friend's for a day and just thought it was the coolest thing. I think it's awesome that you can just put the pictures on the computer and print them out from home. I also like the display screen so that you can see the picture right after you took it. That definitely takes away the wonderment as to whether or not your photo came out clear. One of the biggest downsides to having a digital camera is that if something happens to your computer, like a fried motherboard or something, then all your pictures are gone. I try to back mine up on CD every so often, but it's not a habit. I would be heart broken if I lost all of my pictures! Some of them are already lost because I had to reboot my computer due to a virus and for some reason they didn't burn onto the CD and they are now gone forever. But despite that factor, I still prefer them over a disposable or a film camera. [SDTermite]
I actually waited quite a long time after they came out also. I don't like to get anything that is brand new to technology because they usually have too many problems to start with and need to be perfected. [ctrymuziklvr]

I own both of them but I enjoy the digital camera more. There's something almost magical about taking a picture and then looking right at it after you're done. It's capturing a moment in your busy life and being able to ponder about it. It's also really convenient for sending pictures to family and friends. I definitely prefer the digital camera but I still enjoy the film camera. [schwthrt2]

for me, it is digital camera since it is so convenient and you can take as many pictures as you want without having to worry about the space... and i can see the result straight away.... so if i don't like it, i can retake the picture again at that time... and i don't have to develop it if i don't want to... i can just see them from my PC... but i have to admit that film camera images are still brighter and sharper compare to the digital one... [lingli_78]

I have a digital and I so love it! Just like the other day I was asked what the necklace looks like that hangs in my mirror in the car. So rather than trying to discribe it, I just ran out there snapped a shot and posted it, all in 5 minutes. That is just too cool. Way better than have a film camera that is for sure. [sunshinecup]

i do own a digital camera but i would like to own someday a film type camera. [gnohb12]

I have a digital camera, and I would not go back to the old fashion camera. The picture quality is better it is cheaper. I have several cds, plus I still make print copies for my picture album. Someone stole my computer plus the cds I had so I like having print copies. [venshida]

I own both a digital camera and the mechanical one. But I prefer the digital one because it is so handy and I can easily save all my pictures to my hard drive and print whenever and wherever I want. I have an Olympus digital camera. Although, it's not that high-end model, but I love the colors and the functionality of it. If I would buy for another digital camera, I would prefer cannon and let me see the difference. [jhanna]

yeah the pictures on digital camera is much better than the cellphone. well i think igs a great invention. i love my digital camera too. i often take pictures with it. [indieover35]

I have a regular film type camera. I like to have a digital camera. But I am now in a mood not to spend money on costly gadgets. I have a promise that i'll buy one after I get an omsite opportunity. [subha12]

I have an old film camera ,Qyumpus, which i hardly use now a days.It is such a bother to buy a film and get it developed and all that .But recently my son bought me a digital camera,a Casio exilim with a lot of new features.Well i must confess I do not have much expertise regarding the technical side....But I an finding it very convenient to just click away to glory evreything that i fancy. It is fun to load it on pc and delete the unwanted ones...... [mithrarao]

i prefer film camera becaus you can cut the reel in the middle and still take fresh pictures for the remaining film. you can get a better quality.i am using both but most of the time it is the film camera.digital images are not clear on my cano camera.so iuse film camera only. [ssf12ster]

Hello! I love taking pictures and posing on the cam! *hahahaha* sounds like a frustrated photographer or a frustrated model..LOL! I have both, film camera a Canon one and a digital cam which is Canon as well. I do have a Sony videocam which I uses for taking videos and some still shots as well which you can connect to the television and watch the video, it's good 'coz everytime you use it you need to buy a tape, so whenever you want to watch those videos again you can just put the tape in the cam. I love all those gadgets actually. I know digital cam is the best. I still use my film camera from time to time for my photo album or for scrapbooking. In Philippines I get good deal with my film camera, in my fave film shop, everytime you buy 10shots film you'll get one film free...*hehehe* But I do use my digital cam more, it's easy, you can see your picture after a click, upload the photos in your pc and share it and even delete your picture if your pose was bad *hihihi*. And being away from my family, my father would take pictures of my baby everyday and send it to me through emails. One thing that I like about digital cam as well is that I can edit my photos, I love using photoshop, I can do anything with my photo, adding some designs or whatever. Thanks for sharing..SMILE to the cam! click! *hihihi* ciao! =) [fab315]

We own a digital camera and its so much easier to use and download your own prints online or save onto a disk and then get them printed out (or do it ourselves). We love taking videos of our son too! [maddysmommy]

I would love to get a digital camera eventually and I have my sights set on one of the Nikon..ah, but I got to dream about that only for now, as they are over the thousand dollar mark...I still, believe it or not use my 35m film Nikkormat EL-W camera I got ..are you ready? Are you sitting down? I got it in 1977...and yup still works! I still like film use as I develop my own film and prints..black and white..and I love that format...black and white that is...oh, sure, you can make any photo black and white by tweeking around in Photoshop but there's something great, an added bonus I think in being able to do one's own prints the old fashioned way rather than with a computer [pyewacket]

Well i HAD a digital camera. it needs to be fixed now. The lens is not functioning very well and i'm really annoyed that it's broken because i haven't really used it much. *sigh* Using traditional cameras (with film) isn't that bad... It can give us the element of surprise and excitement digital cameras can't give us. I don't really have any preference... whatever is useful at any moment is good enough for me. ^_^ [owstalaga]

My husband bought me a digital camera as a christmas gift, cause he knows that i really like to take pictures and i already told him i like to own one, cause i don't like using disposable cameras since it's like wasting money that we need to buy everytime we need to take pictures, with digital cams you can delete the photos you already printed plus you don't need to scan it, just upload to your computer and save it there. The quality of pictures are really better than using a disposable or regular camera, since it has megapixels you can print a big clear photo out of the digital camera, you can also use zoom and you can also edit the pictures from your PC using a photo software that is included when you buy the digicam. it is really a perfect and convenient camera to use in this time. they also cost less if you develop the pictures from a digital camera than in a film camera. I really like my digicam and i always bring it along w/ me if we go out somewhere and if we have parties or occassion. :) God bless! [claire03]

I have dgitial camrea, and I really love it.Specially now when I am so far from my paretns and my friends it is so easy to send them picture by e-mail.It cost me no money and it is fast and easy. Also I love that I can look to the picture what I take and if I don't like them I would just take another one and there is no wasting of film. What a great thing digital camera is. [laurika]

I have several kinds of cameras but the digital is the only one I use. I am like you the easy digital use of this camera makes it more sensible. I can take pictures of anything and put it on my pc and then print them out or send them via internet to my family and friends and it I wish I can put them on cd. Digital cameras are the best way to go these days. [bwrattybaby]

I own a digital camera. I find the non-digital camera a little rather outdated and not for my flair. The digital camera makes thing easier for me. I can take countless shots without worrying about using up the alloted film reel. And then I do not need to take it to a dark room to develop the pictures. With its finisse features, the digital cameral will allow me to preview the shots, delete the bad ones and re-take new ones, etc. It's just a cool, awesome and convenient tool. [nickventere]

I have a camcorder which is a few years old now. I never changed it since because I like so much. I can put it in my pocket because it's that small. It's actually a multi-functional camcorder from Polyview. I think its one good thing that I have of all the gadgets I owned ever since. I just like it so much. [MGjhaud]

I have both...a digital as well as a regular type camera. I usually use the regular type camera to take pics of my kids. The main reason being that the studio near my place doesn't develop the digital prints (I want proper photos to be framed around the place). It's easier for me to get copies of the photos from regular film. But I find that the digital prints are better than the regular type film. [SViswan]

I do have a digital camera. I bought it off eBay a few years back. It's not new by any means, but it takes great photos. I also have a regular film camera around here somewhere, but I couldn't tell you where it is. When I bought my film camera, I bought one of thsoe nifty Advantix film cameras. I took a lot of panaramic photos. Rate me + and I'll rate you + [Sacrificialclam]

I own both of them. I bought a film type camera but never got it developed. I also got the digital camera as a gift as well. I prefer the digital camera because I don't have to go to a photo develop store and wait 24 hours just to have it developed. With the digital camera I can just upload it and print it out.
