Before I love to watch movies in cinemas now that I have internet access I just download it online.I used to rent dvd's but since I seldom go to the mall and rent bec. I am too tired to walk to the mall which is by the way across my office.
But if my boyfriend wants to watch a certain film and if he thinks it would be best to watch it on big screen,that's the time we watch it in cinema but since we have a nice tv and we have internet I sometimes suggest that we download it online and use our speakers and pretend that we are the cinema.lol
Not only that we save money for watching a film,we can relax at home and just grab our pillows while watching the film.

I rarely goto movies anymore... With the price of movie tickets going up, it's cheaper to rent them from stores... Most of the times, I goto local library to rent movies... In the Philippines yes we used to...but that was years ago.....Right where we are there are no cinemas.What we usually do is buy dvd and turn on the surround speaker.Then turn off the lights.Voila!It like viewing it in the big screen.We seldom download movies from the internet because it takes centuries.lol [misty99]
Exactly.sleep About downloading a film online..it depends on the speed of your internet accept and it depends also if the site you are downloading.I used a file sharing software to donwload a film.But we also turn off the lights and turn on the speakers and there you have a cinema in my own home.wub [pinks17]

I don't pay for my movie downloads.We used a file sharing site..try installing VUZE(formerly called AZURUES) in your pc and if you want to search for films to download go to www.isohunt.com and in the search field you type in the movie you want to download and it will be imported to your file sharing software which is VUZE.And you will just have to wait until it's done downloading the film. I still go out to the movies. It's far in between, but I still go occasionally. I don't really like to unless it's a thriller. But then again there have been times where I was kind of dragged out of the house, lol. So I'd rather just watch it from the comfort of my home and bedroom. About the Dark Knight OMG we watched it in the cinema and would you believe I slept and missed half of the film,I woke up when joker exploded the hospital.My boyfriend and I had a regret watching a film that day bec. we are actually selecting either Dark Knight or The Mummy and I told him that my officemates love Batman...so we ended up watching Joker...ehem...Dark Knight.And we didn't liked it. My boyfriend and I love to go out to the movies. It's fairly expensive to go out, but to us it's worth it because it's a nice experience. We like to play games before we watch the movie, we have our little snack of popcorn and maybe pizza, and we decide if we'll go see movies in the regular theatre or in the cheap seats ($3 theatre that airs movies after regular theatres end showings but before DVDs come out) while watching the trailers. There are also a few restaurants that offer a dinner and movie deal, for about $17 each person (a movie ticket is $13-$15 here) so we've made use of those before too! We're lucky because my mom gets discounted passes through her work, so we can pay half price to see a lot of movies! :) We also download and rent DVDs, but our set-up isn't the best for watching downloaded movies. Sometimes it's almost the same cost to buy movies on a deal as it is to rent them, for us, so we tend to grab a few on the bargain table when we get the chance. I think for me it's better to go to a theatre because if we're at home, we cuddle up and I end up so comfy that I quite often fall asleep during the movie. I don't fall asleep in theatres unless it's a late show and the movie is boring, so there's a much better chance I'll actually see the whole thing! [lacyjae]
We're quite lucky here that some work places get discounted theatre tickets! Not everyone does though. My mom works for a very large company so she has access to a lot of discounted tickets for different activities. I don't think any shops offer movie tickets, but if you collect points (like on Visa, Air Miles, etc) some of those can be redeemed for movie tickets. Also, the Cineplex theatres have a Scene card that gives you discounts and you collect points toward movie tickets too - I like that card. :) I think the movie popcorn is the best! Microwave popcorn makes me sick (I think the fake butter smell or something) and my friend broke my air popper a while ago so I can't make popcorn at home lately. We still go out to the movies once or twice a year. If the movie is one of those movies that just begs to be seen on the big screen we will get a babysitter (grandma) and make it a date. But the interesting thing is we go on a Saturday or Sunday morning and then go out to brunch or lunch afterward. It is a fun date and something that I wish we could do more often. For most movies we either rent or watch on the internet at leisure. Still there is something about the date night that is just so enjoyable. I also rarely watched movies in cinemas nowadays, unless I really like it and kinda become my habit and appoint it to watch it every time that the movie will release like Harry Potter series. But more likely I just watched it in our house with my family either by waiting for the film to release in DVD or download it online - I rarely do this, because here in the Philippines, where the internet broadband wasn't that fast, it was kinda bit hard and long to download movies. Well, for the most part, I would have no idea where to download a movie online, and I am sure they would cost quite a bit as well. But then again, I have never checked it out as well. My husband and I have not been to a Movie Theater since King Kong. Unfortunately it does not look as good on a Small screen either, but when we are wanting to watch a Movie, we will go rent one somewhere. Before, when I'm still in college... Me and my boyfriend used to watch movies in cinema almost twice or trice a month especially during weekends... But now that I am already working and we are far from each other, I am not already going to cinema.. My older sister usually will download or burn movies then I'll just watch it at home during my rest day.. This apparently is a great topic. I think it is. I wonder what the ratio is for # of people per year now versus 20 years ago when I used to go all the time. Not the money, I don't think this is about the money, I think this is about what we would RATHER do. I prefer to rent movies first, then buy them if they are worth it. My boyfriend prefers the theater for certain movies. We went and saw 'Die Hard 4' for nostalgic purposes, he has seen 'The Dark Knight' 3 times this summer, I took my 7-year-old nephew to see 'Hellboy 2', I also saw all 3 'Lord of the Rings' movies in the theater. I was 3 when my uncle took me to see 'Star Wars', so I have really been to the theater all my life, I still prefer to rent. I will always prefer the comfort of my own home, where I can put my feet up, wear my pajamas, pause for a potty break, and nobody complains. Popcorn is cheap and freshly popped, candy is cheap, soda is cheap and not watery, and the company is optional. I don't have to start it at any specific time and I can rewind it if I miss something. I agree with you. I also don't like to got to cinema halls braving a long drive, traffic jams and sitting in one chair for long hours. I always like to watch movies in the comfort of my home. Where I'm the king, I can sit or lay down in whatever manner I like. Where I don't have to get ready by wearing formal clothes and remove them after coming back. Well I hardly ever rent a movie. I do sometimes buy them. Ifit is one that I just know after I see it will want to own it. I like to go to the Library and get them. It is free that way. You can even look it up online with your Library card and see what movies that you would like to see and then reserve them. When they come into your local Library. when I was young I use to go to the cinema all the time but now with 2 little kids we don't go too much. The last movie we tried to go see was Kung fu panda. We missed alot of it and left early b/c my 3 year old had to keep going to the bathroom to pee and then my 1 year old didn't want to sit still so we will try again but it will be a couple of years from now. I only go to the actual cinema very rarely. Sometimes I'll go with my friends or my and my husband will go on opening night of a movie we have been waiting to see, like the Harry Potter movies. I'll definately be going in a few months when Twilight opens. For us its a matter of money and distance, and good movie theater is at least an hour away and tickets are $7-$8 per person plus food and gas money...it turns out to be a tad on the expensive side. If it wasn't so expensive we would go a lot more, but as for a preference I enjoy watching movies at home. We get onto the couch and cuddle up under the blankets and you can pause it when you need to...its just more cozy! We also have netflix which is a fave of mine since I'm always for a movie. Netflix works perfect for us and its cheaper than renting or ordering them through paper view with as many movies as we watch :) [musiclover505]
Hi musiclover.happy There are really some movies that's worth spending for and there are just some films that you can actually download online and just enjoy watching it at home.For the Harry Potter well I am not a fan but I was able to watch all of them from my friends dvd copy. I typically rent my DVD's and watch them at home or at my parents place or on the PC. I don't download them because dial up takes several weeks to get a single movie and I'm not that patient. I occasionally will go to the theatre but it has to be preplanned as the nearest one to home is 45 minutes drive and the next nearest is 1.5 hours drive. Then I'd have to drive home too. [saundyl]

Humm renting a dvd is cheapest but i prefer to download movie from internet where i can get movie.however is better to rent a dvd rather downloading from internet when u dont have a broadband connection. [bikash84]

It's nice to know some people are considerate enough to know when their children can't handle something. I've been to 9:30, 10pm showings with kids maybe 8 or 9 years old, and who's parents held conversations with them throughout the ENTIRE movie. [jsmith12]
It is VERY rare for me to go out to a movie, because frankly the prices and experiance aren't worth it. Paying 10$ to get into the theater, plus 10-20$ for food, plus unless you go near the end of a showing swarms of people who can't behave properly leads to a lousy experiance. We just go ahead order pizza, or make snack foods for dinner, and watch the movie in our own living room while eating. Much more fun, far less expensive. [jsmith12]

i love watching movies and i just download them online.. i now use "vuze" and "utorrent" which i find faster than "ares" or "bearshare".. before i used to buy at least 4 - 6 cd's and dvd's a month.. thanks to the internet (dsl), i definitely saved a lot.. relax watch a movie.. and lots of them.. hehehe.. :-) [luiscpatag]

Hi pinks17, i will go to cinema when the movies that i want to watch are those big production, for example Red Cliff. This is because the different feeling which i can find in cinema but not in the house. Due to i can find a lot of pirated DVD here, therefore, those movie is not categorized as big production but i feel like own it as collection, i will buy the pirated DVD, which quality sometimes is better that the original DVD, :p Anyway, i also download from internet for some of the movie which i feel like watching as for fun. I think that cinema today is too expensive, at least in Spain, so if I watched them all at the cinema I'd get poor. So this is why I use to rent DVDs -which I think it's also expensive- or download them and watch them at my computer. I really think going to the cinema should be cheaper... [normapassarell]
When I already have my daughter I never go to Cinema already for I am giving her breast feed and even until now because I cannot be sure if the Nanny would give enough attention unto my daughter and for that O bought a site for my download and it is not much also and it is a Internet Download Manager and I do make it most of them for my movie...... hi pinks! happy i still watch movies on the big screen. but only certain movies usually of the action/adventure/sci-fi/thriller/horror genre which has a lot of special effects that can be appreciated and enjoyed more with a big screen and a good loud speaker system. ^__~ for romantic comedy movies and other movies without much special effects, i prefer to watch it at home. i also download movies from the internet but only old movies that i missed on the big screen. happy [secretbear]

Yes I prefer watching movies in the dobly or imax, if and only if its much cheaper nowadays. However downloading film is much cheaper now and at least you can watch it at the comfort of your house [reese_sakura]
Well, you cannot deny that watching a movie on the super large screen still has its kicks! But with the prices of tickets growing so much, it is getting more expensive to go to one. So I am picking my movies when I go with my wife. If we feel it is not worth the price to watch it on the big screen, we opt for the DVD instead. Cos the price of two tickets for a movie that we feel is not worth going to the cinema to, we can rent 5 DVDs from the store. [ahgong]
Like you I just watch the movies on my computer which I usually get from my friends who have downloaded the movie or get the DVD.However ther are just some movies that you need to go to the cinema to watch so you get the full surround sound and ambience of the theatre.There is just something about being around other people when a particularly exciting movie is on the big screen,you feel the energy in the crowd and it makes the experience richer.Also the smell of popcorn,nachos and the buzz is something you can never recreate at home.In addition if you are trying to impress a girl ,I dont think she would appreciate sitting on your couch and watching a movie with poor quality the same way she would being in a theatre . Movie theatres have gotten way too expensive for my husband and myself. We will either wait for the movie to come out on DVd, or wait for it to come on TV. Sometimes if it's a movie we rent that we really like, we'll buy our own copy, otherwise, we just rent movies when we want to see them. [danishcanadian]
