Horror Films!

When I was younger, movies like Friday the 13th, Nightmare on Elm Street, and Child's Play, were my enemies! I just couldn't watch them without being scared out of my mind! Teenage years, I absolutely loved horror movies, and movies with alot of suspicion and action in them. I absolutely loved Wrong Turn, and Dawn of the Dead. I loved Doom, and movies with just some amazing casts in them and interesting, though horrifying themes to them. I never could understand how I could be so scared when I was younger to watch them. Adult years, I'm once again embracing the childhood years, where I just cannot watch a horror film! I'll watch them, but chances are, I'll be hiding under the covers, on the edge of my seat, or screaming at every part that has that "jumpiness" to it. You know where the killer comes around the corner or something, lol. I have turned into a wuss lol! I just don't like violence, I bad for everyone, but they sure are for me. My heart races and there's a guarentee I'll scream at the slightest thing lol. Don't get me wrong, I like them, I just dn't like the way they make me feel. Do you like horror movies? Do they terrify you the same way they do me?

Yes I do like horror movies. I like to watch them but not when I'm alone. Never. I will just only watch a horror movie if I'm with my family or friends. It's better that way because you get to scare your friends. :) shadow41 [shadow41]
lol oh yes, its definitely better with family and friends. Last night my brother talked me into watching Friday the 13th. I was texting during the movie and I was forwarding a message from my mom's phone to mine, and mine was in my room - because right now its messed up, lol. Anyway, the phone starts ringing from the back of the house, and it freaked them both out! It was so funny because I wasn't even trying. My mom's ringtone on my phone is the ice cream truck song, and I ended up saying that I could so see "It" (you know, the clown), driving a ice cream truck. It was funny. [janette2009]

Yes i'm like it absolutely guys. I was watched a horror movies around my time. Firstime i feel enjoy it when i was on junior highscool , before it just action film that i'm interested. I think i was addicted on enjoying horror movies especially thriller an gory with fully blood on there. [icecubic]

I like to watch horror movies once in a while..But I don't watch them as much as I used to.. I remember watching Friday the 13th with all alone at midnight when I was much younger..I was scared but I had to watch, so I turned the volume to low and then, it wasn't so scary anymore... [AD1970]
I remember watching Nightmare on Elm Street. The one where the girl is on top of the ceiling n the hospital, lol. I think my brother and I both got scared that night, and we hid under the covers. I have a tendency of turning away when I know something is fixing to happen, lol. I can't handle the whole "killing" scene. Though, I guess that's what makes the horror films.. horror films. [janette2009]

Yepper, I sure do like horror movies, I get a kick out of being spooked. I guess watching horror movies, for me, are a way to get a safe rush out of something. Get a rush out of getting caught off guard by the actors, directors, storylines. If it's real freaky movie then I do enjoy the "jumpiness" you mentioned. I guess films are a way for me to be put in danger but not real real danger. You know what I mean? Really, I know no real killer is going to come walking out from behind the couch to get me, at least I hope. On another level, I did get really scared watching horror films as a kid, now that I'm older, I tend to laugh at them. The over the top tall tales, the long shadows, too dark to see if something is hiding in them. The violence isn't good either, violence in reality isn't good for anyone. But when it comes to the fantasy of horror, too much violence in a film can become cheesy, almost slapstick. There are a lot of comedy movies that also rely on violence to get the story's point across, too. [oldmanhorrorfan]
Thx 4 the response, happy mylotting!!! [oldmanhorrorfan]

Hi friend I enjoyed watching Horror Movies. My favorites are Amity-ville, Wish-master, Alone, American Haunting, Chronicles of exorcism, dawn of the dead, One Missed call, Shutter,Vacancy, Wrong turn. Its a great experiences watching horror movies in multiplex specially with my gf. She holds me tight & i enjoy the movie a lot ^_^ [rupesh1988]
lol this is the cutest comment. lol the whole part about your girlfriend holding you tight and you saying you "enjoy" the movie. YOU ENJOY THE MOVIE AND HER ARMS AROUND YOU dont youuuu?! lol. :) I like the Amity-ville horror movies too! I was so crazy about Ryan Reynolds in the new one, that I just had to watch it. lol, celebrity crushes, lemmie tell ya. I haven't had one in a while, at least not to my knowledge. I also liked American Haunting, and one missed call, and wrong turn. I've never seen the others, I don't think. [janette2009]

i've been watching horror movies since the age of 8 or 9,so they don't scare me anymore,i'm still trying to find one that does [doormouse]
lol, that's how I was during my teenage years, I just couldn't find one that scared me! [janette2009]

I am not a big fan of horror movies, unless i have someone to cuddle up with and "protect" me when I get scared. Though the other night we watched gremlins at work and my co-worker and I made fun of the movie to no end. Cant believe I was so afraid of the movie when I was younger [rmuxagirl]
That movie is a classic! Along with Tremors! lol. I don't think I was ever afraid to watch those when I was younger, they weren't as bad as the others. Though, now, they do sorta remind me of those little furry things on the game "Chuzzle", only a more evil version, lol [janette2009]

Hi, I hate to tell you this, but, I have loved horror movies my whole life!! I Can still remeber my very first one.... the classic house on haunted hill !! my mom would not let my sister's and brother's let me see them, until I was around 8or9 years old. I loved it !!! and have been watching ever since. My favorite horror movies are those about haunted houses !! I watch ghost hunter's, ghost lab, destination truth, tha hauntings on discovery channel. I am sorry, you probably didnt want to ear this, But, I saw horror films and had to respond. Just remember, except for the shows that I mentioned, they are just movies..designed for entertainment. Don't Be Afraid !! [truckergirl]
I liked House on Haunted Hill as well. I know they aren't bad, and they're just movies. They just terrify me more than they used to. lol, but I still end up watching them and liking them, because of my mom and brother being big horror fans. My dad and uncle won't watch them either, lol. I think they're more into action movies. I love the ones about haunted houses too! I also really love GhostHunters! I've never watched the ones like ghost lab, destination truth, or the hauntings on the discovery channel, though I've noticed them, and I will check them out. The paranormal world is definitely something that fascinates me too! Those, I can really handle, its more the serial killers and stuff like that... thank you for commenting though! I'm glad you did. :) [janette2009]

i can watch horror movies but like you i used to watch the same movies and i used to jump out of my skin, my fave movie was the exorcist, i know everyone has their own views on it, but because i had never seen anything like it, i was fascinated with the spinning head scene and the green puke scene, now i can watch it and just laugh my head off (pardon the pun) but back then, it scared the life out of me and i was too scared to sleep at night. [puddytatt]
ack...typo, movie, not mocie...LOL... [puddytatt]

I like horror movies with the exception of one, The Exorcist is scares me silly, it's the only movie that makes me afaid of the dark. I love the Child Play movies. I even bought the dolls from Spencers at the mall. The Bride Of Chuckie with Jennifer Tiller was my favorite. [SallyAnna]
lol, Bride of Chucky was hilarious, and Seed of Chucky. But my fav child's play movie is the 2nd one and Bride of Chucky. I've never seen the Exorcist movies, but I know I'd be terrrrrified of them! lol [janette2009]

Hi janette, I love watching horror films..especially the ones that are classic. Same with you,I love Wrong Turn. Dawn of the Dead is great too. I also like 30 days of night, the ring, the poltergeist, the exorcist, land of the dead and lot more. I'm petrified when I am watching alone at night and I think thats not a very good idea. But I still do sometimes.haha. But now a days horror films seemed to be too gory like Saw (well, Saw_One is really cool) but the rest of its installment were like too bloody and you expect it to be like that up to its recent installment. I like the ones that has unexpected twist on the story.happy [danitykane]
lol, thanks for the comment! I loved 30 days of night, the ring, and land of the dead. I've never seen poltergeist and I've never seen the exorcist! I'm scared of watching them alone, lol, and even more scared to watch them with my brother, he has a tendency of trying to make me "jump" and honestly, IT WORKS more now than it ever did! He won't even watch the Exorcist, so I'm not the only wuss in the house, lol. I actually liked Saw alot too, though I haven't seen all of them. I love the ones with the twisty storylines too!!! [janette2009]

I used to love horror films. I guess to some extent I do still enjoy them. They're just very intriguing movies to watch, I suppose. I think the last one I saw was The Ring (American version, the first one, I think). I wanted to see Esther, but never got around to it. I do love those 70s and 80s horror staples, if only for Nostalgia's sake, lol. Some of them were really bad. Oh but those gremlins were cute! Haha! [wahmivy]
lol! I was always afraid to watch the Gremlins, but then as I got older, it became one of my favorite movies to watch! They're so cute, but very deadly, lol, and funny at the same time. I love gizmo the most, he's the cute and cuddly, none deadly one. lol. [janette2009]

I have a small collection of horror films. Obviously, I love watching them. Have you seen The Uninvited (English Version)? That movie rocks! [IMEzekieL]

It's funny that you jump from being freaked out, to loving them, then back to being freaked out, lol. As a child I used to love horror films, though they would scare me. And yet, only in the smallest way; most kids would be scared to see The Exorcist or what was that movie? Candy Man? Or Nightmare on Elm Street, but as a kid, from since I could remember I adored these movies, and before I could read I would always pick out the movies that looked the scariest simply based on their covers, lol. As I grew up over the years, the strange morbid interest I find them are not totally gone, but any issues of fright have long since died. In fact, by the time I was 11 scary movies stopped "scaring" me--if they ever really did--all together. I clearly remember nights as a 12 and 13 year old watching documentaries about real murderers, or simply tuning into a horror flick, and not flinching, and at taht time in my life I was always alone at the house with the lights off, and we lived in the boondocks. Every time the show or movie ended I would have to get up when it was dark and put away the chickens--no we didn't have a farm, we just had pet chickens but that's a different subject. Anyway, I would go out there to put them away for the night, and the dogs who normally would be great for protection if anything happened would always bark, so I had stopped taking them out with me at night. Then I'd come back in and go to sleep. My family--not really my sisters or mom--but the rest of them, especially one of my aunts would always question how I could do such a thing, for she, even at her age, could not, even to this day. I was simply not afraid, and am still not. I think my aunt as a child never watched scary movies, though, and in turn never allowed her own kids to watch them, therefore continuing that fear of such nonsense. My mother didn't care what my sisters and I watched, and she would always tells us anyway that horror movies aren't real. That worked, because as a kid I could watch anything without being afraid--except perhaps, those first four or five years of life, and as I said, that was barely fear if at all--and NEVER have I had a nightmare after watching a horror movie, even when I went to bed right after and was alone. I'm glad my mother let us watch these as children, because I've grown up not to be afraid of them, I've grown up NOT to do the stupid things people do, like seperating when you shouldn't, or taking rides from strangers, or simply trusting a stranger, or going down a dark alleyway or something. Of course, I probably wouldn't do those things regardless because I'm not an idiot, but still. Today, the only thing about horror films that I don't like, is that I've come to realize that they are, and have always been, SO cheesy! And I have yet to watch a descent one, let alone one that scares me. That goes anywhere from the old movie The Birds, all the way to the Saw movies. I've lost that childish fear/love for them, and find myself more often than not, laughing at a horror movie. This isn't to say I don't still enjoy sitting down to watch one occasionally, because I do. [fuzzy7277]
lol, you are so brave, going outside after a horror movie. When I was younger, I hated going outside at night, at all. That wasn't because of the horror films, it was more because I was just terrified of the dark. You're right on the cheesiness of the horror movies, I realize just how cheesey they are too. Some of them REALLY make you laugh, for real. I hadn't seen one that really kept me on the edge of my seat until the new version of "My Bloody Valentine" came out, and that was topped my favorite. There was another, but I can't quite remember the name of it. I'm glad you're not an idiot, lol. I laugh at the old horror films and the new ones where the girls just sit there and scream, its like, YOU NEED TO FREAKIN RUN, STUPID! lol. I also refer back to "Scream" when Randy was giving the "rules" to survive in a horror film, lol. Like never doing drugs or having s*x, and those old ones always seem to start off that way, and then the new ones where they say "I'll be right back," and they NEVER come back. lol. Those rules are actually pretty helpful, if we ever were to star in a horror movie. lol. NO S*X, NO DRUGS, AND NO SAYING I'LL BRB LOL. I hope you find a good one soon. [janette2009]

Thank you for tis post. I`ve been looking for something like this. I`d love Horrors movies. I`ve just read it and I think its a very interesting. One more time thank you very much. [hrustrsh]
You're welcome very much! :o) thank you for commmmenting! [janette2009]

I love horror films and they don't neccessarily terrify my but I do love all that violence, blood and gore! When I watch a good horror movie it always makes me wonder about questions such as what if? What if this was to happen in reality? What would I do if I suddenly found myself in a city plagued with zombies? How would I react in an end of world scenario? I love horror movies as they take me to places beyond imagination! I think of it as another form of escapism! I love to escape by either reading a good book or by watching a terrific horror movie. Andrew [AndrewFreyne]
That's cool that it takes you to a different place beyond your imagination! I often wonder the same thing, what would I do in this movie? Would I survive? lol. Lets just say, sometimes I guess that's what terrifies me the most, but at the same time I realize that its just a movie. I love to escape by reading a book too!! Thanks for commenting [janette2009]

i really to scare myself thats why i watch horror and suspense film. but i dont wantch it in movie houses. it gives me creep i do watch it in the house to less the creepiness [carrillo_zeny]
lol, I agree, they are definitely more terrifying in the movie theatre! [janette2009]

Yes, I like horror films alot. I have seen many and sometimes they terrify me. I like them because they are like scary fairy-tails and most times things happen in present days. Usually the stories are very interesting and catchy and you never know what will happen next. Also the special effects are very good in those kind of movies and actors are so convincing. [poster123]
lol, first time I've heard them called scary fairytales! [janette2009]

no,i 'm not fond of the horror films at all ,they would give me a bad feeling and be scared,i may have nightmares all night? [hobegao]
As far as the nightmares go... it depends on the person. I'm scared of them, but I don't have nightmares about them. lol [janette2009]

Oh boy *sigh* we are soul sisters…I react exactly the same way as you. I love horror films, I enjoy them with my son but the only thing is that I cant watch the 'real' parts, if you know what I mean! I'll hide behind my son, duck under covers, close my eyes and plug my ears…anything so that no the tiniest of sound gives me an inkling of what's happening…yet, I have to be there, I just cannot miss them. And when the scariest part is over, I'll nag my son to tell me exactly what happened! [sudiptacallingu]
lol I can't watch the "real" parts either. We were watching friday the 13th last night and I kept looking away! My neck was starting to get so tired, because Jason kept doing his "thing" every 5 secs it seems, lol. I can't miss them either, especially if its one I've waited for a long time to see! That's so cute, how you nag him to tell you what happened! lol! :) I agree, we must really be soul sisters [janette2009]

I remember very recently that a Horror film was released. And the Makers of this film (I do not remember the name of the movie) challenged that if anyone watches the movie in a Theater, alone, (the whole movie) he would be paid Rs.10 lakh. Not many came forward. But a Brave young Bangalorean did try and succeeded. I honestly do not have that much courage. But I do not mind watching Horror movies. But more than horror movies, I like murder mysteries which I feel are more interesting. [goodfundadvisor]
I don't know if I would've had that much courage either, anything could've happened with me in there by myself, lol. I do watch some horror movies alone though! I think murder mysteries are more interesting too, probably because I really like mysteries, lol. [janette2009]

I love movies, but horror films doesn't appeal my interest. I find it annoying when ever i watch horror movies.Maybe it has something to do with my childhood fear of horror movies that still lingers in. I share the same feeling experience with the general population that it is indeed scary and the feeling that carry with it when ever we watch. Maybe i will learn not to shout and hide under the blanket if ever i will watch horror films.lol... [jenzai]
I honestly don't think it gets better to just watch them. My family and I all have different reactions to different movies. My mom seldom but almost always falls asleep during them, lol. She's really not afraid of anything, I don't think. My dad never watches them, my uncle refuses as well, and my brother loves them. I like them, though I won't watch them all the time. We watched the blair witch project the other night, which really isn't that horrible, but its bad enough. My brother was freaked out during the whole movie, and I couldn't help but laugh because I'm normally the one freaked out! He wouldn't even trust me to stand behind him, all I was doing afterall was just standing there, *smiles innocently* :p [janette2009]
